Privacy Policy — Bateria Própria Z

Last updated: 1 July 2026

This is an English translation provided for convenience. The Portuguese version is the binding one and is the version submitted to the Google Play Console: Política de Privacidade.

This policy explains what data the Bateria Própria Z app (“the App”) collects, what it is used for, and what your rights are. The App indicates whether a Renault Zoe battery is potentially owned or leased, based on the VIN.

1. Data controller

2. What data we collect

  • Device identifiers (Android App Set ID and Android ID): used only to count free checks and validate your pass. They are anonymised (salted hash) on the server — we never store the raw identifier.
  • The VIN / licence plate you enter: sent to our server to obtain the battery status. The VIN may be used to query a vehicle data provider (see section 4).
  • Purchase data (Google Play purchase token): used to validate and activate your pass.
  • IP address: processed transiently for rate limiting and in technical access logs.

The App has no advertising, no third-party analytics, and requires no account or login.

3. What we use the data for

  • Providing the requested prediction (VIN → battery status).
  • Managing free checks and paid passes (abuse prevention).
  • Processing and validating payments through Google Play.
  • Keeping the service secure and stable.

4. Sharing with third parties

  • Vehicle data provider: the VIN may be sent to a third-party automotive data provider to obtain the battery status.
  • Google Play (Google Ireland Ltd.): processes payments and purchase validation.
  • Server hosting: data is processed on the server where the API is hosted.

We do not sell your data to anyone.

5. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process data to perform the service you request and on the basis of legitimate interest in preventing abuse and processing payments.

6. Retention

We keep only what is strictly necessary: quota/pass state for as long as it is relevant to the service, and technical logs for short periods. You can request deletion of your data at any time (section 7).

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict the processing of your data, as well as to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us at the email in section 1. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNPD (the Portuguese data protection authority).

7.1 How to delete my data

To request deletion, send an email to contact@ricardorocha.dev with the subject “Eliminação de dados”. We will delete the data we can associate with your device — the anonymised identifier, the check count and pass state — within a maximum of 30 days.

Because the app uses no account and does not collect your name, the data is pseudonymised and minimal; if needed, we will explain how to confirm your device so we can locate the records.

8. Security

Communication with the server is encrypted (HTTPS) and device identifiers are anonymised before being stored.

9. Children

The App is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect children’s data.

10. Changes

This policy may be updated. We will publish the most recent version here with its date.
